Waves are to water as time is to space. Time is how we humans of the 4 dimensions (height, width, breadth, time) compare ourselves to the universe and its inhabitants. Waves are always caused by something. In our 3 dimensional world Earth (which has 3 dimensions because of a pre-ponderance of gravity and mass) there are basically 2 ways that a wave can be generated- 1.Waves generated by something outside the water (this includes underground earthquakes), and- 2. Waves generated by something in the water. The wave that began time (and the universe as we know it) is of which variety? IT could be either. If it was a wave of the first variety and it was generated outside the water (or the universe) then that means that our universe is not the only thing in existence. This would mean that the force that created our universe is of a different material than our universe. If the wave was created inside our universe that means that there is something or some combination of things within our universe that can generate enough force to create a universe, or alternate universe if you will. Either way, it is clear that somewhere, someway, there are a combination of factors that can generate a universal time wave. With a planet, all that is needed to maintain an atmosphere is sufficient mass. So long as the mass of the planet is high enough and the planet is not too close to a star (or something else with sufficient heat and mass) the atmosphere will be maintained and the reality of 4 dimensions will be preserved. If a planet just needs sufficient mass then a universe just needs sufficient time. How is time crafted? It is well known that light behaves as a particle when observed and behaves as a wave when not observed. How does time behave when not observed by a human? WE can never truly know, for even if we are not "observing" visually, we are still observing in some way. But it begs the question, is the universe completely observer created? If all living beings suddenly died would the universe begin to behave like a wave, or simple cease to exist? If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it turn into a wave and fall through the ground?

Here you will be instructed in the ways of Alchemy and be given the formula for the Philosophers Stone. This gift (of knowledge ) is not given lightly. Those who misuse it are doomed to a life of torment. Those who use it in accordance with God's will can accomplish anything they so desire.
I believe that I have come to the time in my life where I am ready to embark on the spiritual journey. I can't say the day and hour of my departure (for I know that not). I cannot say when I will reach my goal. I just know that something speaks inside of me, that I must go on a quest. A quest for knowledge. There is no way around it. Knowledge does not come to the lazy, or virtue to the sinful. Knowledge comes from living your life in accordance with the will of God. In doing so, I must relinquish myself of this society, where God has so little influence, and go on the Philosophers quest. You are who you hang out with, and I do not approve of the attitudes of most of the people I surround myself with. You will probably say, why not just not hang out with them?= A. Business reasons, B. To not be completely bored- C. To covertly dissemenate choice knowledge. This quest is a serious one and I do not take it lightly. I may not live. To live is to write is to express thyself. Only by trial and error may the true rational philosopher reveal to themselves (and the world) nuggets of truth. Trial by pen, error by life (for to live is to err). Literacy has allowed the learned (and the ignorant) a means of reviewing thine thoughts and idea's before committing them to reality. This is truly a God-given art and is the basis for every other science known to man. Without it, we are left wondering where humanity would be. The stories of Viracocha, Quetzlcoatl, Oannes, and Osiris bear witness to the fact that writing was brought directly from God (or "the God's" if you prefer). Of course the ancient writings are of such age that a keen intellect (and a knowledge of the mother tongue) must be used to decipher the true meaning's of the stories. What they all seem to say is that bearded white fish men came out of the ocean and taughts mankind reading, writing, and arithmetic (among other things). The stories also say that all of these civilizer Gods were eventually killed (if these were aliens we can see why they dont visit much). The society that has emerged out of these conflicts that happened thousandes of years ago is one that is bi-polar and chaotic. While most of us read and write (a relatively recent development) and cultivate crops, we still hunt and kill. While we are taught all of "the basics" in school, "the real world" still seems to operate by and large according to the old rules. The rules of the animal, of which there is only one-Kill or be killed. How do we expect our children to grow up to be intelligent, caring humans when so many of us are killing each other for basically no reason? It's as if we are in a "stunted growth" period of evolution and without a big change happening soon, we all may be doomed to die at our own hands or at the wrathful hands of God. When you meet God will you be able to tell him that you tried your best to save the world? Or will you tell him that you just went along with everyone else because it was comfortable? A system can only exist if people choose to participate in it. Without humans, there is no fuel, and it will die. If something doesn't seem right, don't do it. You are not required to do anything besides what it takes to sustain your life, and even then, how you choose to sustain your self is completely your choice. When god taughts us writing, reading arithmetic, and agriculture he was giving us the keys to Godhood. By following the principles that are secretly encoded in ancient writings, and in life, a human has the power to create an entirely new universe based solely upon his/her own will. It is interesting that as our literary abilities have advanced, so have the means by which our attention is subverted and our will is masked. the multiple TV sets in most homes are examples of this. TV's, in fact, have taken the place of religious altars, of conversation at the dinner table, of FREE THOUGHT. Now, instaed of creating something to represent yourself accurately, we are encourage to "find" a creation of someone else's to represent us. There are many beautiful and wonderful things that have been created by many people, but the frequency and the consistency of such works has been dilluted by mass media manipulation and the monopoly of media by relatively few companies. Most of these "companies", in fact, have occult goals. As do, most of "the elite", as they are called. What we must realize is that most of the "groups" behind these companies have all taken an oath not to reveal their knowledge to the profane, while simultaneously concealing their craft through the language of symbolism (symbolism is the key to everything). For those who wish to know the answers and pierce the veil there is but one path. The world of illusion (maya) exists to occupy the profane so that the thoughtful and exalted among us may think and create logically without distraction. I can't say that all of these groups have the worst or the best intentions, but I will say that their intentions and goals are questionable. That beins so, QUESTION ALL MEDIA. Better yet, CREATE YOUR OWN. If we all create then the wheat will separate from the chaff and the sheer prevalence of the good will give the great a better chance of becoming the SUPREME. Lee Jarrod Evans here... as life floats on and manifests in the eyes of the souls, the users of the Universe, given to us by God. I gradually become more and more aware of the secret mystical meaning behind the spiritual reality of the Universe. Why do humans going as far back as we can trace seem to have the seemingly illogical belief that there exists an entire world that we cannot see? What sort of upper-hand in evolution would this give humans? The only way that these sorts of thoughts and beliefs would is if they somehow benefited us, and/or...if they were true. I was talking to a friend last night and I mentioned something about a higher power and she basically asked me how that would fit in with the sentiment that I commonly express, that "We Are All God". When the Universe was created the Divine Mind of God sacrificed his immortal self so that the Universe would have eternal life (the true origin of the Christ, and Osiris stories). Since we all are made of the parts of the mind of God, then YES, we are truly all god. That does not mean that there are not higher powers out there. The higher powers I refer to are the ones that ceremonial magicians, pagans, and the religious of all types have been calling on to help them become closer to God. I would define a higher power as a being (not necessarily organic like us (or carbon based)) that as a result of being illuminated and completing their work at a previous level of reality they were bumped up to the next level in their spiritual evolution. These are not evil beings or necessarily good (for those labels only apply to our level), but they do have a closer connection to God. As, all things have a soul, it follows that the lowest form of soul (that we can see) is the atomic particle and the highest form of soul is the Universe. I cant tell you exactly what you will reincarnate into, but it depends soley on the way you live your life and if you accomplish your reason for being alive. That is something you should ask yourself everyday= "Why am I here?". If you do not know, take an entire day to yourself and write down all of your possible reasons for existence. Choose the ones you like and write down all of the steps that need to be taken to reach that goal. Remember that the real important things in life (that will allow you to reach the next level) don't have to do with how much money you have, or how much you can get over on someone, they have to do with realizing your part in the will of God (whatever religion you are). We all have a contract to fulfill, if we do not fulfill our role then we have violated the contract. This doesn't mean your going to hell are some other malarchy (any relgion that attempts to scare you into following their doctrine must always be looked at with suspicion), it just means that you will likely live a similar life again. And cycle after cycle of subverting the will of God will slowly disentegrate. Love, lee

BP is using free inmate labor and making extra money off of it-- New Outrages Keep Gushing From BP With BP's well capped and CEO Tony Hayward exiled to Russia, perhaps you thought that surely there will be no additional revelations about BP to enrage you. But now comes this: prison labor. In its national PR blitz to buff up its image, the oil giant has loudly been boasting that it has hired devastated, out-of-work local people to handle the clean-up. Many have been hired, but the people themselves say not nearly enough. The Nation magazine now reports a big reason for the shortfall — BP has been using inmates to do much of the shoveling and scooping to remove oil from Louisiana beaches. In the early days of the cleanup, crews suddenly appeared wearing scarlet pants and white t-shirts with bold red letters spelling out, "Inmate Labor." Investigative reporter Abe Louise Young writes that the sight of prison laborers outraged the local community, so they were removed. Not the inmates, the uniforms. Now they wear BP shirts, jeans and rubber boots with no prison markings, and they are moved to and from the job in unmarked white vans. No officials with BP or the feds could or would tell Young how many inmates are being used or what they're being paid. However, a local sheriff's official told Young, "They're not getting paid — it's part of their sentence." But guess who is getting paid for this convict labor? BP. It's getting paid by you and me. Under a little-known tax provision passed during the Bush regime, corporations can get a "work opportunity tax credit" of $2,400 for every work release inmate they hire. And that's not all we're subsidizing. For example, BP, which rented the drilling rig from Transocean Corp., used a special tax break to write off 70 percent of the rent it paid. Seventy percent! This added up to a savings of $225,000 a day for BP. Also, back in 1999, Transocean deliberately moved its corporate address offshore in order to dodge its tax obligations to our country. It relocated from Houston to the Cayman Islands, then to Switzerland — slick moves that have allowed the giant corporation to avoid paying $1.8 billion it owed in U.S. taxes. No industry gets the absurd array of subsidies that Big Oil now enjoys — subsidies at every stage of its operations, including the ones used by BP and Transocean to search for oil in our public waters. As one political leader put it in 2005, "With $55 oil, we don't need incentives to the oil and gas companies to explore." That was George W. Bush talking! Five years later, oil is $80 a barrel and the industry is pocketing record profits — yet the giveaways continue. Again and again, BP has promised that it would pay all cleanup costs for the mess it made. Now, however, the British-based oil giant has quietly told investors that it expects to get a $10-billion subsidy from Uncle Sugar to help cover the costs. Say what? Not only did the company's top executives assure us that this whole god-awful mess would be on their dime, but so did our top government officials. As President Obama flatly declared in May, "We will demand they pay for every dime they owe for the damage they have done." Even Rep. Joe Barton — the GOP gooberhead who so obsequiously apologized to BP's CEO for America's insistence that he set up a corporate fund to compensate victims — was forced to backtrack and say that, of course, he expects BP to pay the tab. So what is this $10 billion hit on us taxpayers? It's another little corporate gotcha that lobbyists quietly got tucked into our tax code, allowing huge firms to grab a credit for up to 35-percent of their losses. The damages and cleanup being paid by BP, says one tax expert, are "just another cost of doing business," so they qualify for all applicable corporate breaks. After all, says another expert, while BP said it would pay the costs of the cleanup, it "never promised that it would not seek any deductions" to recoup those costs from American taxpayers. COPYRIGHT 2010 CREATORS.COM People along the gulf coast are getting the BP flu or the Blue Flu---- ‘Blue Flu’ cases spreading around Gulf By Lounge Daddy, 17 August, 2010, 8 Comments “Blue Flu” infecting people along the Gulf of Mexico, other southern states? Some people are calling it the BP Flu. But it is commonly being called the Blue Flu, because the alleged symptoms include blue lips and skin; and it’s scaring the hell out of people all around the Gulf area –from Texas to Florida. This Blue Flu is separate from people experiencing something called TILT, or “Toxic-Induced Loss of Tolerance.” TILT is something that hit some of the folks who had been working on the massive cleanup surrounding the oil spill. Symptoms from TILT include eyes and skin being irritated, headaches and dizziness. People with TILT are typically those who were in the immediate area of the spill, mostly those directly involved with the cleanup. Those suffering from Blue Flu are an entirely different matter. These are people who were not in direct contact with the spill, or the cleanup chemicals. They simply live in the south, near the Gulf. Symptoms include swollen glands, notably in the neck, fever, vomiting, headache, bluish lip color, numbness in fingers and toes. The most alarming symptom being reported is “severe symptomatic cyanosis.” This is the entire body turning blue, a discoloration of the skin. Of course this could cause alarm that these are symptoms of oxygen depletion along the Gulf. But could this rather be from all that Corexit that was sprayed everywhere, including dropped through the air from airplanes? This was a lot of chemical deposited in a large area, in a short frame of time. One wonders how the people living in the area could not be sickened from it. Here’s a littleabout Corexit: Corexit is a product line of solvents primarily used as a dispersant for breaking up oil slicks. It is produced by Nalco Holding Company which is associated with BP and Exxon. Corexit is the most-used dispersant in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, with COREXIT 9527 having been replaced by COREXIT 9500 after the former was deemed too toxic. Oil that would normally rise to the surface of the water is broken up by the dispersant into small globules that can then remain suspended in the water. Whatever the cause the Blue Flu, it is important to note that the oil spill wasn’t cleaned up – it was covered up. As stated in the above quote, the Corexit that was sprayed and dumped all over the place is simply a (rather dangerous) chemical agent that prevented the oil from surfacing. After all, the government isn’t interested in your safety. Rather, the government is interested in creating the illusion of safety. And the government often harms even more people in the end in their effort to keep up appearances. Thus, expect the Blue Flu to be kept under wraps as much as possible. In an effort to deflect criticism, I would not be surprised if the government sounded an alarm over another flu bug – an effort at misdirection. The political class wants the oil spill story out of the way and forgotten. There are two major articles about Blue Flu that I read, none in the msm. One story is pretty alarmist in tone, and another that strives to be far more measured with this. However, the story appears to be well written and sourced — the writer quotes people about Blue Flu. That article is at worldvisionportal.org. The writer wonders if these are symptoms of oxygen depletion in the air and water. Here’s a little from that one: Along with the symptoms that mimic flu-like viruses, there are increasing cases of severe symptomatic cyanosis. These rapidly increasing symptoms range from bluish lip color to numbness in fingers and toes. There is also a fast growing increase of pneumonia cases which are being diagnosed as chemical induced pneumonia. Those working on boats and those living directly on the coast are the most effected. Cyanosis is simply oxygen starvation in the blood. With a moderate case involving such a lack of oxygen, the skin appears to have a blueish colour. Hands and fingers especially show these signs as will other extremities such as toes and lips. A lack of oxygen in the blood can also have a purplish appearance where the skin surface is red from sun exposure but the blood beneath the skin is blue. Red and blue make purple. If all these BLUE FLU symptoms were temporary, most everyone suffering from them would eventually recover as the blood becomes increasingly oxygenated once removed from the oxygen depletion source. I wanted to double check the statement that “cyanosis is simply oxygen starvation in the blood,” so I went over to wikipedia : During cyanosis, tissues are uncharacteristically low on oxygen, and therefore tissues that would normally be filled with bright oxygenated blood are instead filled with darker, deoxygenated blood. Darker blood is much more prone to the blue-shifting optical effects,[3] and thus oxygen deficiency – hypoxia – leads to blue discoloration of the lips and other mucous membranes. The writer goes on to suggest that, “while the Blue Flu symptoms are increasing for more and more people, those who have had 30+ days of direct exposure to the toxic and oxygen depleted Gulf air and water are in immediate danger of permanent and irreversible biological damage… if not death.” Damn. Now’s a great time to look at the more measured, less panicked article. Over at Meta Oceanic Research, an article covers a few new Gulf-spill-related symptoms being reported online. The article looks at the symptoms of TILT and the Blue Flu. The entire article is pretty interesting for the comparison, and it’s a fairly quick read. For the info on the Blue Flu, it references the World Vision Portal. The article ends with this: We caution the reader that everything in the World Vision Portal post is hearsay so far, but it echoes and dovetails with verifiable similar cases. It’s also extremely well-written and motivates us to keep an eye on the story and research the matter further ourselves. Interestingly, I believe there was a prediction made by Webbot of a ‘Blue Flu.’ And there have been concerns in science magazines that we could have a problem — a natural problem — with a lack of oxygen. And then, clearly, the oil spill and chemical agents could make a natural problem into an unnatural problem. Of course panic solves nothing. We’ll keep an eye on this as best we can. It will be interesting to see if the Blue Flu is something that we never hear about again, or if it becomes something too big for the msm to avoid. Time for an Update.
The date is March 27th 2006.
I am now 25.
I have moved back to Jonesboro, hoping to start a band with Rob Mccain and Joe Gillis.
It took me a while, but I eventually remembered that me and Rob seem to be unable to work with each other for extended periods of time...besides, I really cant deal with someone who gives excuse after excuse.
So enough about that, Im not here to bitch.
Ive been enjoying life and saving up money to get back to Memphis.
I haven't really made any new friends since I've been back here but I have seen a lot of old friends and that has been really nice, especially seeing the old friends that there was some sort of weird tension between but now there is not because we saw each other and they saw I was not on drugs anymore and I saw that they were beautiful and wonderful.....
Ive been halfway looking for a girl, but to no avail.
I tried to ask a scorpio out, but I didnt do it the right way.
Im really more concerned with spreading information and working on my art, which includes music, words, and pictures.

For example, say if you happened to create a child in this sexual environment---

The chances of your child being submissive are very much increased.
I wish more studies would be done on this idea because I find it very interesting.
Because, what if the sex is unsatisfying for the woman but totally satisfying for the man?
Does that change the chances of a particular sex being created?
I would say yes.
Think about it.
Thats entirely male sexual energy being put into the act....thats why people who reflect attributes of both sexes were probably created under circumstances that were pleasurable for both sexes.
If you have sex and its more athletic than romantic, then your child will be more right brain oriented than left brain.
So my opinion is that it is wrong to create life when you are just having sex for pleasure.
Imagine if we created life everytime we masturbated....overpopulation would truly be a problem...thats more of a joke than anything...I think the real problem with that is that it creates a selfish society that is more concerned with having its immediate needs met than it is with the long term needs of the whole met.
If you cant manage to pull out (which I dont know what is so hard about that), please be abstinent or wear a condom.
Aborting a life is truly one of the worst things you could possibly do....for your karma and for the soul of the child.
Trust me, I disagree with the government having a say in such personal matters.
Yet, I truly have a problem understanding someone who would refuse to eat meat yet would have abortion after abortion performed on themselves......if this is you, what is wrong with you?
Do you truly consider animals more important humans?
If not then why act that way?

What up kids, governments spooks, and all around assholes? This is Lee Jarrod Evans, back at you with some information that you need to know. Most are on another vibrational, or dimensional level, so their life and their existence are very different from what we may define as such. That being said, our idae's of justice, remorse, happiness and sadness wont be exactly mirrored by them. They are being used by certain specific forces that originate outside of our planet. What are the goals of these specific forces? Use your psychic power to see this.
First, sit down in a dark room and cross your legs. Imagine a white light that starts at your head (or your feet if you wish). Move it slowly down your body. Wherever this light goes, you feel absolute relaxation. Leave the light there until you feel that muscle "let go" or relax, then move on to the next. Once you have done this for long enough (probably a few minutes) you will feel very relaxed. Remote viewing is the most powerful initiator of psi because it is a visual psi-activisty and engages the 'watching TV and films' mem. Most people have watched hours of television since childhood. The author did not watch television until he was 12, so this meme is much weakened in him, since the neural network in the brain is most instable from birth to about five years of age. Most younger people have been highly conditioned by television, so this is the ultimate RV learning technique for them, a technique that allows them to have a mental television in their mind's eye, showing remote viewing pictures.
When one learns remote viewing, it is difficult to get the mindset needed for success because we are surrounded by people who deride the concept of psi. In Russia they have a different mindset, one that knows psi exists, so all that is left is to see how good one can become at remote viewing. The only caveat is that this was purely a military activist in the USSR, so it was tightly controlled by the KGB and the GRU. Now that Russia is a free market democracy, anyone can learn this skill.
PROTOCOLS OF THE CINEMA METHOD OF REMOTE VIEWING
1.To begin the cinema method, one has to construct a mental cinema screen in one's mind's eye.
2.This cinema screen is drawn in a clockwise direction in blue fire by the mental laser of directed attention, just prior to sending the biophysical field to the target.
3. The screen is filled in with blue fire, then becomes transparent when it is ready for remote viewing use. This may sound a little complex, but in effect what you are doing is turning on a mental television in your brain, so that you can use the screen to watch the picture broadcast by your biophysical field, which is at the target site that you are remotely viewing.
Its really weird how I always feel as if there is something else I need to do. Even when I write everything down I can possibly think of, and check it off as I go, there's still .........something. Humans have evolved to focus on many goals at once. Humans evolved as ACTIVE animals, not lazy slobs. Laziness is devolving humanity on many levels, the most obvious of which is our bodies. Everything on our bodies is designed with movement in mind. We did not evolve to the level that we are al now by sitting around and being lazy. We evolved to this point from years and years of being active (hunter-gatherers) until farming was developed, but even farming required WAY more work than most people are expected to do nowadays. Now, everything that one needs (at least, THINKS that they need) encourages individuality and selfishness. Car's, TV's, computer's, CD player's, guitar's, drugs, movies, video games, etc,;... The list goes on and on. They are all means, BUT TO WHAT END?
Many "policy papers" written by the elite (the elite being defined as, in this context-politicians, music stars, media figures, all the super-rich) talk about the need to kill a certain number of people to maintain a balance of goods because there is only so much to go around (they call this "population control"). The idea being that, with a limited amount of resources available, only a certain number of people will be able to use them all. This is a perfect idea to convince people of if one wants to horde all the goods for them selves, AND have a "logical" excuse for murdering large amounts of people.
Popular books espouse that selfishness is a virtue, that individuality is a moral, and that laziness is admirable. Do you see a pattern here? Make all people selfish, lazy, and individualistic, and the possibilities of them working together are next to zero. Dont get me wrong about individuality. I am not saying that conformity is the answer, or that all people are not different. What I AM saying is that by making individuality more important in one's mind than working together, and sharing, the elite are ensuring that we will be so busy worrying about ourselves (as opposed to THE HUMAN RACE) that we will never be able to focus long enough to figure ou what is really happening to us. AND THAT IS PRECISELY WHAT IS HAPPENING. Look around you my friend; a world full of distractions of no real value. Most being designed to keep you stationary. The worst part is; you probably think your totally cool for "not giving a fuck" and "being yourself". But the truth is, you are being decieved, in a very deep psychological way, into never seeing the forest for the trees. Meanwhile, the people in power do what they want. You dont care, as long as you have your (fill in the blank).
But its not too late. If we all start cherishing each other, start sharing with each other, and start communicating and working together towards a higher goal--we may be able to save humanity.
Remember, the critical mass for psychic transmission of any idea is 5 percent of a population. Spread this paper far and wide.

I thought I would talk about something me and my friend Melanie were talking about today. Well, I guess I brought it up. I was in the middle of one of my rants. Yelling about how people just dont fucking get it, how everyone seems to think that everything is just a big fucking game. My friend reminded me of a time when our friend Adam brought a friend of his over (I cant remember her name). We all watched a movie called "9/11 In Plane Site". If you havent seen it, I highly reccomend it. It proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that MILITARY PLANES, not Boeing 757's, crashed into the World Trade Center towers. Being as that fact (and other info in the video) is kind of hard to swallow (especially for Bush supportors, of which Adam's friend could count herself as), I have empathy for those who dont want to understand what is going on. But something she said struck me. She said, in more or less words, that everything you see in front of is a product of your imagination, therefore, the government is a product of your imagination. So, in accordance with these thoughts, if you pretend there is no overly oppresive government, there wont be one. I guess if someone is trying to murder you, you should just close your eyes and hope they go away. I hope the lunacy of that statement startles you, because it does me. This is that state we are now in. People have been misled to the point of BELIEVING that there is no reality outside of their head. WHAT BETTER STRATEGY COULD THERE POSSIBLY BE FOR PEOPLE IN POWER!?
Convince the masses that everything they see is in their head. So what do the people do? They dont try to change anything outside of themselves, they become so self-infatuated that they can think of nothing but themselves.

Anyways, I thought I'd do some kind of awesome update for you guys since I've got the internet at home.
I just woke up.
My teeth hurt nowadays. Especially this upper back right one. They said it needs a root canal because its dying. They (the periodontists') also said that the surgery would cost over 2,000 dollars. Well, shit...Maybe I'll have the money after I start my new job. I still have not gotten the offer letter from MCI, so they will be hearing from me today. I walked out of Malco yesterday. I went in and Valerie immediately started accusing me of opening a package of hot dogs. I told her I didnt. She said that she knew I did it. I said I didnt. On and On....Its been like that ever since I started there. I constant stream of accusations. Valerie sucks at being a boss. She just turns into a bitch, everyword that she says. Maybe its just me. But I know its not, because other people who work there think she's a bitch too, they're just too young to fight the power. I just walked out. The trouble that she gives me is worth another 2 dollars an hour. Not 5.25 an hour. Fuck that. It seems as if all of the jobs that pay that type of measly salary are easily quitable to me. Although, I decided to do this when Steve hasnt even turned in my Food Stamp papers yet. Maybe he wont even turn them in. That would suck.

Everything seems more urgent, as if this happening to my Dad has woken me up about how quick my life could be. I mean, his life is not over by any means (he's just now about 50), but the point is, you never know what may happen, so you need to work hard now and not later.

Since my last update, many people have died and suffered greatly thanks to some pesky levies in New Orleans. Lets be honest here, we would not have had such a high loss of human life if these levies had not broke. Did we know that the levies were a danger and that they simply werent high enough? Yes. Read this from the June 2003 issue of Civil Engineering Magazine.
"If a storm of category 4 or 5 were to hit New Orleans before the city was adequately prepared, what toll would it exact?
In the 1980s Joseph Suhayda, then a coastal oceanographer in the civil engineering department at Louisiana State University (LSU), began to seek an answer to this question by simulating storms with a modified version of a hurricane model used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Suhayda first began modeling the storms to help parishes in southeastern Louisiana determine appropriate flood elevations for FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program. As his modeling capabilities improved, he began to more closely investigate the level of protection provided by the levees encircling New Orleans.
Suhayda’s model contains a geographic information system overlay that divides a fairly large boundary, from Alabama to Texas, into 0.6 mi (1 km) grids containing information about ground elevations, land masses, and waterways. The FEMA hurricane model does not draw on the same processing power as AdCirc and in general produces more liberal projections of flooding from storm surges. But by solving numerical equations representing a storm’s pressure, wind forces, and forward velocity, Suhayda was able to use the model to predict the storm surge associated with an actual hurricane dozens of hours before it hit land. By subtracting the elevations on a topographical map of coastal Louisiana from those surge values, he was able to approximate the flood risk of a given storm.
In the 1990s, Suhayda began modeling category 4 and 5 storms hitting New Orleans from a variety of directions. His results were frightening enough that he shared them with emergency preparedness officials throughout Louisiana. If such a severe storm were to hit the city from the southwest, for instance, Suhayda’s data indicate that the water level of Lake Pontchartrain would rise by as much as 12 ft (3.7 m). As the storm’s counterclockwise winds battered the levees on the northern shore of the city, the water would easily top the embankments and fill the streets to a depth of 25 ft (7.6 m) or more.
Suhayda’s model is not the only one that describes such a catastrophe. A model called SLOSH (Sea, Lake, and Overland Surges from Hurricanes), which is used by the National Weather Service and local agencies concerned with emergency preparedness, portrays an equally grim outcome should a storm of category 5 hit New Orleans. The SLOSH model does not contain nearly as many computational nodes as does AdCirc, it does not use a finite-element grid to increase the resolution of the nodes on shore, and its boundary is much smaller. Even so, its results are disheartening.
“Suppose it’s wrong,” says Combe, the Corps modeler. “Suppose twenty-five feet is only fifteen feet. Fifteen feet still floods the whole city up to the height of the levees.”
Experts say a flood of this magnitude would probably shut down the city’s power plants and water and sewage treatment plants and might even take out its drainage system. The workhorse pumps would be clogged with debris, and the levees would suddenly be working to keep water in the city. Survivors of the storm,humans and animals alike, would be sharing space on the crests of levees until the Corps could dynamite holes in the structures to drain the area. In such a scenario, the American Red Cross estimates that between 25,000 and 100,000 people would die.
That prospect and the amount of time it would take the Corps to construct adequate levee protection against a storm of category 4 stregth, have inspired Suhayda to push for what he calls a community haven project. His idea is for the city to construct a 30 ft (9 m) tall wall equipped with floodgates through the center of town to protect the heart of New Orleans and such culturally important areas as the French Quarter. That portion of the city lies between two bends in the Mississippi River and is therefore already protected by adequate levees on three sides. With its gates closed, the wall would complete a waterproof ring around the area.
Suhayda says the wall would be cheaper and faster to build than the larger projects under consideration by the Corps. It could be constructed along an existing right-of-way and act as a sound wall most of time. “We’re going to build sound barriers along most of these roads anyway,” Suhayda says. “So for a small added cost, go ahead and make them capable of withstanding wind loads and hydrostatic heads.”
The Corps would not necessarily be involved in the construction of such a wall because the latter would be land based. Even so, Naomi is adamantly opposed to the idea. “How do you protect people from two-hundred-mile-per-hour winds?” he asks. “Where do they go? What buildings are designed to withstand that? Where do they get their power and their food, and where do they rest their heads at night? Just keeping the water out isn’t enough. You don’t want to give people a false sense of security by saying that this is a refuge unless you have a place for them to go.”
For the most part, New Orleans does not have places for people to go. The American Red Cross no longer provides emergency shelters in the city because its officials cannot guarantee the structural integrity of the locations. There simply are not enough buildings in the area that could withstand the forces of a category 4 or 5 storm.
During the past 10 years Marc Levitan, a wind and structural engineer and the director of LSU’s Hurricane Center, has been involved in hundreds of building investigations throughout New Orleans to determine if certain structures could be used as so-called refuges of last resort. “With the vast majority of them, if you really do an analysis, you really wouldn’t want to use them,” he says. “They all have some sort of deficiency.”
Most people would not wish to remain in the city if a category 4 or 5 storm were in prospect, but evacuating could be difficult. Experts say close to 400,000 people could be stranded in the city. There are an estimated 100,000 people without easy access to automobiles, and those who can drive may not be able to do so. During Hurricane Andrew, interstates throughout the South were brought to a standstill because simultaneous evacuations were taking place in several states. The only major planning improvement since then has been the decision to keep traffic away from the coast on both sides of evacuation routes.
Complicating the difficulty in New Orleans is the fact that each of the city’s three major evacuation routes is over or near water. Suhayda’s model indicates that during a storm of category 5 Interstate 10, which is constructed on piers for a distance of almost 20 mi (32 km) west of the city, could be covered by more than 5 ft (1.5 m) of water."

The Louisiana bayou, hardest working marsh in America, is in big trouble, with dire consequences for residents, the nearby city of New Orleans, and seafood lovers everywhere.
It was a broiling August afternoon in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Big Easy, the City That Care Forgot. Those who ventured outside moved as if they were swimming in tupelo honey. Those inside paid silent homage to the man who invented air-conditioning as they watched TV "storm teams" warn of a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. Nothing surprising there: Hurricanes in August are as much a part of life in this town as hangovers on Ash Wednesday.
But the next day the storm gathered steam and drew a bead on the city. As the whirling maelstrom approached the coast, more than a million people evacuated to higher ground. Some 200,000 remained, however, the car-less, the homeless, the aged and infirm, and those die-hard New Orleanians who look for any excuse to throw a party.
The storm hit Breton Sound with the fury of a nuclear warhead, pushing a deadly storm surge into Lake Pontchartrain. The water crept to the top of the massive berm that holds back the lake and then spilled over. Nearly 80 percent of New Orleans lies below sea level, more than eight feet below in places, also the water poured in. A liquid brown wall washed over the brick ranch homes of Gentilly, over the clapboard houses of the Ninth Ward, over the white-columned porches of the Garden District, until it raced through the bars and strip joints on Bourbon Street like the pale rider of the Apocalypse. As it reached 25 feet (eight meters) over parts of the city, people climbed onto roofs to escape it.
Thousands drowned in the murky brew that was soon contaminated by sewage and industrial waste. Thousands more who survived the flood later perished from dehydration and disease as they waited to be rescued. It took two months to pump the city dry, and by then the Big Easy was buried under a blanket of putrid sediment, a million people were homeless, and 50,000 were dead. It was the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States.
When did this calamity happen? It hasn't,...yet. But the doomsday scenario is not far-fetched. The Federal Emergency Management Agency lists a hurricane strike on New Orleans as one of the most dire threats to the nation, up there with a large earthquake in California or a terrorist attack on New York City. Even the Red Cross no longer opens hurricane shelters in the city, claiming the risk to its workers is too great.
"The killer for Louisiana is a Category Three storm at 72 hours before landfall that becomes a Category Four at 48 hours and a Category Five at 24 hours, "coming from the worst direction," says Joe Suhayda, a retired coastal engineer at Louisiana State University who has spent 30 years studying the coast. Suhayda is sitting in a lakefront restaurant on an actual August afternoon sipping lemonade and talking about the chinks in the city's hurricane armor. "I don't think people realize how precarious we are," Suhayda says, watching sailboats glide by. "Our technology is great when it works. But when it fails, it's going to make things much worse."
The chances of such a storm hitting New Orleans in any given year are slight, but the danger is growing. Climatologists predict that powerful storms may occur more frequently this century, while rising sea level from global warming is putting low-lying coasts at greater risk. "It's not if it will happen," says University of New Orleans geologist Shea Penland. "It's when." "
What about warnings specifically about the levees?
In the above latter article, the Sheriff of Placquemines Parish, Jeff Hingle, said, "After Betsy these levies were designed for a Category 3. You're now looking at a Category 5. You're looking at a storm that is as strong as Camille was, but bigger than Betsy was size-wise. These levies will not hold the water back. So we're urging people to leave. You're looking at these levies having 10 feet of water over the top of them easily."

Some will say the answer is obvious - the hurricane. I don't accept that. Hurricane Katrina had come and gone when the levies broke early this morning. Indeed, let's review what was said to be the great risk of Hurricane Katrina:
New Orleans faces a potential for catastrophic flooding if the storm surge reaches the predicted 18 to 22 feet. The levies along Lake Ponchartrain are just 17 feet high - lower in places. City streets could flood to depths of 20 feet, devastating the historic French Quarter, the Garden District and other tourist attractions. The city's 22 pumps could not keep up with such flooding, or even with the heaviest rains expected from the storm.
. . . In addition to deaths, Category 5 winds and the flooding of New Orleans would cause huge property losses. Insurance companies have been increasingly reluctant to sell property incurance policies in the city. Flooding would also leave behind a horrific stew of sewage, trash, storm debris, ruined possessions, petrochemicals washed in from the region's oil-related industrial infrastructure. Add alligators, snakes and fire ants to the mix ... well, it's not a pretty picture.
And the damage to the nation's oil and gas infrastructure could push gasoline and home heating costs even higher. The New Orleans region hosts about a quarter of our oil and gas production. Oil and gas pipelines crosscross the region and offshore platforms do the drilling and pumping.

Well, Hurricane Katrina came and went. The storm surge came and went. And the levies did not break as a result. So what happened?
The waters of swollen Lake Pontchartrain poured into this sunken city today through a gaping hole in a storm-damaged levee, as emergency workers labored to stanch the flow and used boats and helicopters to rescue hundreds of people stranded on rooftops.
. . . In New Orleans, until last night a popular, carefree tourist destination, officials said the widespread flooding could get worse if damage to the city's protective levees was not repaired soon. Although flooding was shallow in some places, in others it was much as 20 feet, and city officials were telling people to get out, saying the municipal government itself was relocating to Baton Rouge.
The flooding in New Orleans was the result of large breach in a levee on a canal that keeps the waters of Lake Pontchartrain out of the city. The hole, at the 17th Street flood wall, is at least 100 yards long and officials say it may be getting bigger. The United States Army Corps of Engineers was trying to plug the gap by using helicopters to drop huge sandbags - each weighing 3,000 pounds - into the breech. New Orleans lies mostly below sea level and is protected by a network of pumps, canals and levees. But many of the pumps were not working this morning. CNN reported that the storm caused another breach at Industrial Canal, and that corps officials feared another gap forming near Pumping Station No. 6.
The water coming through the first gap gushed into residential areas and moved down into the center of the city toward the Mississippi River, but so far, the French Quarter was dry. Other hazards arose.
Honestly, did the people in charge just go off duty once the hurricane passed by New Orleans yesterday afternoon? Was no one monitoring the levies and the working of the pumps?
With due respect to all involved, what in the hell were they doing from yesterday afternoon till this morning? Everyone was told that the MAJOR threat was the breaking of the levies. How can you then ignore this AFTER the storm passes? At first blush, this seems inexcusable.
Update [2005-8-30 23:8:35 by Armando]: Larry in NYC suggests that the levies actually broke during the hurricane but that the breaks were not discovered until this morning. First, that seems far fetched to me. But more importantly, supposing that Larry is right, that seems a more damning indictment to me. Why were the levies not carefully checked YESTERDAY after the hurricane passed? Would that not have been the first thing to do? "
